Privacy
How Ask Pip handles your information. Draft for the invite-only beta, 2 October 2026.
Who we are
Ask Pip is run by its Founders, AskPIP, New Zealand. You can reach us at founders@askpip.garden.
What we collect on this website
- When you request an invite: your name, email address, country, which roses you grow, which phone you use, and anything you write in the note.
- When you follow progress: your email address.
- When you visit: the company that hosts the site keeps ordinary server records, such as your internet address and the time. The site itself uses no cookies, no trackers and no advertising, and loads nothing from other websites.
What we collect in the Ask Pip app
- Your email address and the name you give Pip.
- What you tell Pip about each rose: its name, variety, when it was planted, and why it matters to you.
- Where the rose grows. If you allow your phone to share its location, we keep its position. If you type it in, we keep the town, region and country.
- Your photographs and notes, and what you looked at and decided in each session.
What we use it for
- To consider your invite request and to contact you about Ask Pip.
- To run the app for you: to keep each rose's journal, and to pick out advice that fits the season where the rose grows.
- To improve Ask Pip. We may look at how the app is used and at feedback you send us.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of companies to run Ask Pip. They handle your information only to provide their service to us.
| Company | What it does for us | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Keeps the database, the photographs and the sign-in | Singapore |
| Vercel | Hosts this website and the app | United States, with servers worldwide |
| Resend | Sends our emails, such as your invitation | United States |
| Google (Gemini) | Reads a photograph, only when you ask Pip to look at one | United States |
This means your information is kept and handled outside your own country.
How long we keep it
- An invite request: until we decide it, and for up to 12 months after that if we can't offer you a place.
- Your email for following progress: until you ask us to stop.
- Your Ask Pip account and journals: until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email founders@askpip.garden and we will answer within 30 days. You may also have the right to complain to the privacy regulator in your country.
Age
Ask Pip is for adults. Please don't use it if you are under 18.
Changes
If we change this page, we will put the new date at the top. If the change matters, we will email the gardeners in the beta.
